The Italian Life Sciences sector is now more united than ever to give a concrete response to the new health emergency: universities, companies, research centers and startups are at the forefront of research and development of innovative solutions. There are many organizations that, in record time, have started research and experimentation able to change the evolution of the ongoing pandemic and give a decisive support to health systems, in this period of crisis in serious distress.
 
Once again, to hope that the impact of these efforts will be shared on a large scale, there must be a unified vision and strategy. A first proposal that goes in this direction is the one presented by the Italian Life Sciences sector to the Italian government to create a new European Mission for the research of the COVID-19 vaccine, based on cooperation between the scientific and business worlds.
 
The first Digital Meeting of the Community Life Sciences 2020 will aim to deepen the role that the Italian Life Sciences sector is playing in the fight against Coronavirus and what can be the benefits of a research program shared at European level.
