The IPCC report of 2022 confirms that the targets of decarbonisation and zero emissions by 2050 are more necessary than ever to prevent climate change from becoming irreversible. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic first and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine then, the race to the green transition seems to have been put aside with a newfound centrality of fossil fuels.

In this situation, the cost of energy increases with serious consequences for the industrial system and for businesses, as well as for private users. There is a strong need to rethink energy strategies, designing new energy corridors and infrastructure systems, to develop models based on sustainability but also to free oneself from uncomfortable energy dependencies.

What, in the medium to long term, will be the impact of the Ukrainian conflict on the sources of supply and on the path to the energy transition? What strategies can be put in place, in such an unstable context, to achieve the ambitious net net goals in time?

In this meeting with Professor Alessandro Lanza, Executive Director of the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation and Professor of Energy and Environmental Policy at LUISS, participants will be able to discuss future energy scenarios and identify the main challenges and opportunities of the future energy market.
