Thursday, November 7, 2024 (1:00 pm - 5:30 pm) Meeting

AGGIORNAMENTO PERMANENTE
IN PERSON
Italy and the International Chessboard: The Turning Points of 2024 and the Socioeconomic Prospects for 2025 (with networking lunch)

Palazzo Trecchi Via Sigismondo Trecchi, 20 - 26100 CREMONA

In Italy, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and its reforms are progressing. In the EU, a new parliament and Commission are being elected as the Stability Pact's budgetary rules are reinstated. Internationally, the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East affect the U.S. presidential elections, which will influence the wars at Europe's borders. Financial markets will be impacted by interest rate cuts from major central banks. Thus, 2025 scenarios heavily depend on these recent developments, affecting both Italy and the global stage.

The meeting will allow participants to explore potential developments in the macroeconomic and socio-political fields, in light of the significant changes that have taken place in Italy and the world over the past year.

Among the open questions:

  • will Western democracies emerge strengthened from these turbulent months?
  • will the European Union be able to address the challenges of these years after having passed the test of the pandemic?
  • will Italy be able to confirm the growth results of recent years, in line with or even surpassing the euro area's average?
